World Press Photo-bobo Michiel Munneke is in Mumbai (India) om de reizende tentoonstelling van 2003 aldaar in te richten.

Vandaag merkt journaliste Georgina Maddox van ExpressIndia daarover op:

The interesting point to note is that even though there have been over 100 entries by Indian photographers, none have won any prizes. Even the winning photographs of the Gujarat carnage are by Ami Vitale, a photographer from the USA.

"‘I guess the competition is too tough,’’ says Munneke with a shrug and a smile. ‘‘It may have had a different perspective if an Indian photographer got selected, but I really like these photographs as well,’’ he adds, indicating some very strong colour stills of burnt faces and fire fighters in Gujarat.
